Soprano Aoife Miskelly gave this recital on the 5 June 2020 from the theatre at Nevill Holt Opera in Leicestershire, accompanied by NHO’s Artistic Director Nicholas Chalmers. The recital was performed under social distancing conditions – the first time the theatre had been opened again since lockdown.

Samsam Bubbleman

Shadow Bubbles is a project SamSam Bubbleman began working on in late 2018, though the majority of this work was achieved during the first lockdown, and for him, it has a particular significance with this time. He struggled to find a place to rehearse or work on it as it requires a relatively large space and my normal rehearsal space was closed due to Covid. However, as the weather warmed, Sam realised he could set this up in his garden and work on it during the night time, just him and the shadow.

The Big Screen

The Big Screen will be the festival’s performance stage, enabling the audience to immerse themselves in everything from music, theatre and dance, to short films and spoken word. This will include a performance from renowned cross-genre cellist Abel Selaocoe, as well as performances from the Scottish Dance Theatre, a spoken word piece from Royal Court writer Emma Dennis-Edwards, a performance from BBC Introducing artist Polly Money, emerging musical talent from Tileyard Education and Swamp Motel’s critically acclaimed immersive theatrical thriller, ‘Plymouth Point’, which will transport attendees into a world of conspiracy, cults, and corporate deceit. Attendees will also be able to join Sky Lab’s Tim Hole for a masterclass on innovation, and experience ‘Deep Listening’ with an exclusive listening party by Pitchblack Playback.
